Yap Senior Wins Gates Scholarship

Domclancy Tiliwebug, this year’s valedictorian of Yap Catholic High School (YCHS) has been awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship. Out of the 52,000 applicants in the United States and Pacific Region, only 1,000 are chosen for this prestigious scholarship.

Domclancy has excelled academically during his time at YCHS. He has an unweighted average of 95% and has only missed one day of school during his years at YCHS. He has also received two academic scholarships while at YCHS, the Father John Hagileiram, S.J. Scholarship, a full scholarship that he received in junior year and the Father David Ciancimino, S.J. Scholarship (named after the New York Province Provincial) that he received in senior year.

Domclancy has chosen to attend the University of Portland in Oregon where he plans to study engineering.
