Fr. Patrick Ryan, SJ, recently traveled to southern Africa to give a series of lectures entitled Responding to the Call of Bilal: The Origins of Islam and its Development in Africa. The series consisted of sixteen lectures over two weeks. While there he was hosted by Arrupe College the Jesuit House of Studies in Harare.
Fr. Ryan has been the Laurence J. McGinley professor of religion and society at Fordham University since 2009 but previously lived in West Africa and has visited southern Africa.
