Le Moyne College has announced that Dr. Linda M. LeMura has been elected as the College’s 14th president. Dr. LeMura first came to Le Moyne in 2003, when she worked as the college’s dean of arts and sciences. In 2007 she became provost and vice president for academic affairs.
She is the first laywoman to be elected president of Le Moyne or of any Jesuit college or university in the United States. She will replace the current president, Dr. Fred Pestello, who will be leaving the College on June 30, 2014 to become president of St. Louis University.
“I wish to express my gratitude to the members of the board of trustees for the faith they have extended to me, and to offer my thanks to the many colleagues and friends for their well wishes and support at this time – it is truly humbling,” said Dr. LeMura in a school press release.
