Lecture: Urban Poverty in Camden, NJ


Fr. Jeff Putthoff, SJ

Fr. Jeff Putthoff, SJ, will be presenting a lecture, Does Hope Work? Meeting Christ at the Frontier of Urban Poverty in Camden, New Jersey at Le Moyne College in Syracuse on February 5 at 7 p.m.

Fr. Putthoff is the founder and executive director of Hopeworks ‘N Camden. Based in Camden, NJ, Hopeworks focuses on helping underserved youth break the cycle of poverty. Camden is one of the most impovershed cities in the country, with a median family income of $24,612.

The talk will focus on Fr. Putthoff’s work to fight poverty as well as his spiritual journey. “Here at Hopeworks, we desire to create a community of support, care and love that allows for Hopeworks youth to thrive,” he mentions in a blog post.
