Earlier this month (January 3 through 11) Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., held its Winter Service Week. Organized by the Office of Campus Ministry, the week gave students an opportunity to go on service trips to help those in need. These trips attracted a total of 50 students, staff and faculty members. The service week has four cornerstone values, which are simplicity, social justice, solidarity and spirituality.
The group was divided throughout eight sites stretching from Syracuse to New Orleans. Students who traveled to New York City were able to collaborate with Jesuit works. Some helped with tutoring and after school programs at Brooklyn Jesuit Prep while others worked with students from Le Moyne College to help at Mercy Center in the South Bronx.
