28 August:

1628: Fr. Edmund Arrowsmith, SJ, dies as a martyr in Lancashire, England.
1632: Fr. Paul Le Jeune, SJ, completes the first Jesuit Relations.
1879: Fr. Depelchin and Augustine Law arrive in South Africa to begin missionary work.
2003: Fr. Maurice Giuliani, SJ, dies. He was the founder of Christus, expert in spirituality and a councillor to Fr. Pedro Arrupe.
